The Galata Rhythm House rejects the classic understanding of education. Thus, it is a rhythm producing collective rather than a school.

The Galata Rhythm House is not a school because it has no teacher. At every opportunity he gets Mısırlı Ahmet expresses that he is a “student keen to learn”. For whomever claims that they have learnt all, know all and has become the one has neither anything to learn nor anything to teach.

The Galata Rhythm House is not a school because a school aims to bring the student to the level of the teacher. Mısırlı Ahmet’s intention is not to create his own duplicates or shadows of himself. The Galata Rhythm House has the objective of creating free, creative, ambitious darbouka players who will express her/his own emotions, inner world and their words through the means of her/his goblet drum.

The Galata Rhythm House is not a school because here no blackboards nor notebooks nor pencils nor recording equipments are used. A mind with a developed rhythm perception possesses an accumulation that will not fit into the pages of any notebook.
